Alexander Fay was born 1970 in Braunschweig. He studied electrical engineering at the Technical University of Braunschweig and received his diploma in 1995. Afterwards he started doing Ph-D at the Technical University of Braunschweig which he finished in 1999. He worked at the ABB-Research-Centre in Heidelberg from 1999 to 2001 and at the ABB-Research-Centre in Ladenburg from 2001 to 2004. Since then he leads the Automation Technology Institute at the Helmut-Schmidt-University in Hamburg.

Since 1991, Winfried Lamersdorf, born 1953, is a full Professor in the Informatics Department of Hamburg University and head of the Distributed Systems research unit. He coordinates the department’s center for Complex Systems Engineering and is a (founding) board member of its technology transfer institute HITeC e.V. He received his PhD in Computer Science in 1985, spent a year at the University of Maryland, USA, and was scientific staff member at the IBM European Networking Centre in Heidelberg (1983-1990) working in the area of open distributed applications. He has lead and conducted several national and international research projects. Recently, his group was part of the EU Network of Excellence “Software Services and Systems” (S-Cube). His main scientific interests are in the areas of system software for distributed systems, service-orientation, middleware, agent- and component-oriented, autonomous, self-organizing and mobile systems as well as related applications from e-business via business process management up to logistics and production automation.

Christopher Haubeck was born in Hamburg, Germany in April, 1985. He studied Computer Science at the University of Hamburg with a focus on economic systems and graduated in Business Administration and Computer Science in Oktober, 2011. Since then, he works as research assistant in the Distributed Systems research unit in the department for informatics of Hamburg Unitversity. His main scientific interests are software for distributed and component-oriented systems, self-adapting applications, runtime monitoring and simulation.

Jan Ladiges was born in 1984 in Hamburg. He studied electrical engineering at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences and received Bachelor degree in 2010. Afterwards he did Master degree as well in electrical engineering at the Technical University of Hamburg which he received in October 2012. Since then he works as research assistant at the Helmut-Schmidt-University in Hamburg.

Abhishek Chakraborty was born in Krishnanagar, India in September, 1988. He studied Electrical and Electronics Engineering and subsequently obtained his Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree in 2010 from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Karnataka, India. Afterwards, he gathered work experience of 3 years in Power Engineering and Information Technology sectors. Thereafter, he studied Information and Automation Engineering from the University of Bremen, Bremen, Germany and obtained his degree in Master of Science (M. Sc.) in the year 2016. Since then, he works as a Research Assistant in the Institute for Automation at the Helmut Schmidt University/University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg, Germany.

Heiko Bornholdt was born in Pinneberg, Germany in November 1989. He studied Computer Science at the University of Hamburg with a focus on Distributed Systems in November 2017. Since April 2018 he works as research assistant in the Distributed Systems research unit in the department for informatics of Universität Hamburg. His main scientific interests are Long-Living Software, Smart Cities and Decentralized Marketplaces.
